Seizure has launched a novella competition for Australian and New Zealand writers. Now on to its third issue, Seizure is an online magazine that describes itself as a 'launchpad for Australian writing'.
What is a novella, you might ask? Novellas are longer than a short story, but shorter than a novel. For this competition that means a manuscript of between 20,000-50,000 words, which Seizure considers 'movie-length' and 'perfect for a digital read'.
Writers must tackle the theme 'Origin', which they can interpret in any way they like.
There will be only one winner and the prize will be 'a thousand dollars in unmarked bills'. The winner’s novella will be released by Seizure in digital and printed form in March next year.
Entries close on 1 November, and shortlisting will be done in December. The latest issue of Seizure is available to buy now. Its theme is Style.
